FarRide Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 8, 2026
1. Basic Information
This Privacy Policy applies to the "FarRide" App (known as "奇迹码表" in Chinese) and its companion Apple Watch app (collectively, the "App"), developed and operated by Sichuan Zhangyun Technology Co., Ltd. ("we" or "us").
- Developer: Sichuan Zhangyun Technology Co., Ltd.
- Email: ggeyecom@163.com
- Personal information complaint hotline: +86 28-61340686
- ICP filing: Sichuan ICP No. 15024121-26A
We take the protection of your personal information seriously. This Privacy Policy explains how the App collects, uses, stores, shares, and protects your personal information, as well as the rights you enjoy. Please read and fully understand this policy before using the App.
The App is a cycling workout recording and navigation application (bike computer). Features such as ride recording and route navigation rely on system permissions including location. We follow the principle of minimum necessity, collecting information only when required to provide core functionality, and all workout data (ride records, routes and waypoints) is stored on your device and synced via Apple iCloud (CloudKit private database) across devices signed in with the same Apple ID, with nothing uploaded to any third party. Under the Provisions on the Scope of Necessary Personal Information for Common Types of Mobile Internet Applications, fitness and workout apps do not require personal information for basic functionality.
2. Information We Collect
The App only collects the following information generated when you actively use features. For detailed purposes, feature locations, and how to disable each permission, see Section 7 "System Permissions":
- Location information (sensitive personal information): GPS coordinates, altitude, speed. Used to record ride tracks and route navigation (home map, ride page, navigation page, route editor). Collected only while you are riding/navigating and stops when the ride ends; the App only requests "While Using" location permission, and background location is used only for the necessary scenario of continuously recording tracks with the screen locked during a ride/navigation.
- Health data (sensitive personal information): heart-rate data, read from Apple Watch, a Bluetooth heart-rate strap, or the Health app (HealthKit), used for ride monitoring and heart-rate curve display (ride page, record detail page). Data interaction with Apple Health is split into reading and writing: reading is used for "Workout Import" (importing historical running records also reads running dynamics such as step length, vertical oscillation, ground contact time, and speed samples); writing (workout records, workout routes, cycling distance, active energy, heart-rate curves, cycling power, cycling cadence) occurs only when you actively choose "Sync to Apple Health" (workout save page, record detail page).
- Ride data: distance, duration, speed, cumulative ascent/descent, calories, cadence, power. Used for ride statistics and bike-computer dashboard display (ride page, data page, record detail page).
- Route data: routes and waypoints you import or create (GPX tracks), used for route planning and ride navigation (routes page, navigation page, route editor).
- Bluetooth device connection information: names and identifiers of paired sensors, used only to connect cycling peripherals such as heart-rate straps, cadence sensors, speed sensors, and power meters (My Devices page, ride page). The App also supports broadcasting heart rate to third-party bike computers (e.g., Garmin, Wahoo) via the standard Bluetooth Heart Rate Service (BLE). Only heart-rate values are broadcast, containing no personal identity information.
- Workout preferences: age, resting heart rate, FTP (functional threshold power, for power zones), used to calculate heart-rate and power zones. Stored on-device (Apple Watch side in the system Keychain; iPhone side in local preferences protected by system data protection), never uploaded to servers, never shared with others.
3. Purposes of Use
- Providing ride-track recording, bike-computer dashboard, and route navigation services
- Ride data analysis and statistics (distance, speed, heart-rate curves, etc.)
- Workout alerts (heart rate too high/low, cadence, hydration, etc.)
- Workout record export (GPX/TCX/FIT) and syncing to Apple Health
- Bluetooth peripheral connections and heart-rate broadcasting
- Online map browsing and route navigation
4. Storage of Information
- Storage location: personal information collected and generated while you use the App within China is stored on your device and in your iCloud account (for mainland China Apple accounts, data is operated within China by GCBD); it is not transferred abroad and not uploaded to any third-party server.
- All workout data (ride records, routes and waypoints) is stored on your device (SwiftData/file system), protected by system security mechanisms, and automatically synced via Apple iCloud (CloudKit private database) to your other devices signed in with the same Apple ID; when not signed in to iCloud, data stays on this device only.
- Workout settings and route data between iPhone and Apple Watch are synced via the system WatchConnectivity framework between your personal devices, without passing through any third-party server.
- Settings such as age, resting heart rate, and FTP are stored on-device (Apple Watch side in the system Keychain, iPhone side in local preferences protected by system data protection), never uploaded to servers.
- Data you have authorized to sync to Apple Health is stored on your device and in Apple Health, managed by Apple under its privacy policy, and never passes through the App's servers.
- We do not upload your workout data to any of our own servers. The App only loads compliance document pages (privacy policy, user agreement, etc.) and static reference data (such as wheel circumference reference tables) from its own servers, and does not transmit personal data.
- You may delete workout records at any time; deleted data cannot be recovered (local and iCloud-synced copies are removed together). Uninstalling the App deletes local data; data stored in iCloud by the App can be managed and deleted in system settings.
5. Sharing, Transfer, Disclosure, and Third-Party Services
We will not sell, trade, or rent your personal information. Data interaction occurs only in the following feature scenarios; see the List of Third-Party Information Sharing for details:
- Apple Health (HealthKit): reads/writes workout data and heart rate with your authorization, stored only on your device and in Apple Health.
- Direct Bluetooth peripheral connections: reading data from peripherals such as heart-rate straps, cadence sensors, and power meters via direct Bluetooth connections, and broadcasting heart-rate values to third-party bike computers, are peer-to-peer device communications that do not pass through any server and do not constitute sharing with a third party.
- Apple Maps services (built into the system): map basemap display, resolving the city/region of a ride start point (system geocoding service CLGeocoder), and generating the map basemap of a shared long image (offscreen snapshot MKMapSnapshotter) request Apple Maps services via the system MapKit framework, sending only map regions or the deduplicated start-point coordinate, with no identity information. See item 3 of the List of Third-Party Information Sharing for details.
- As required by mandatory provisions of laws and regulations or by government authorities.
Transfer and disclosure: Except in the following circumstances, we do not transfer or publicly disclose your personal information: (1) with your separate consent; (2) where a merger, division, dissolution, or declared bankruptcy requires the transfer of personal information, we will require the new holder to remain bound by this policy, or will require it to obtain your consent again; (3) disclosure required by mandatory requirements of laws and regulations, judicial organs, or administrative organs.
Exceptions to obtaining consent: Pursuant to Article 13 of the Personal Information Protection Law, we may collect, use, or share necessary personal information without your consent in the following circumstances: (1) necessary for concluding or performing a contract to which you are a party; (2) necessary for performing statutory duties or obligations; (3) necessary for responding to a public health emergency, or for protecting your life, health, or property in an emergency; (4) for news reporting or public-opinion supervision carried out in the public interest, within a reasonable scope; (5) processing information you have made public or otherwise lawfully made public, within a reasonable scope; (6) other circumstances provided by laws and regulations.
The App uses no third-party analytics, advertising, or push SDKs. Workout data is stored only on your device and in Apple Health and is not shared with any other third party. Map basemaps and the basemap of shared long images are provided by Apple Maps (built into the system) and do not pass through any third-party tile service; location-name resolution is performed by the system-level geocoding service (CLGeocoder) — requests from mainland China are handled by Apple Maps' in-China partner, while overseas coordinates are handled by Apple under its global privacy policy.
6. Cross-Border Transfer of Personal Information
This App never uploads data to its own servers and uses no overseas third-party analytics, advertising, or push services. Workout data is stored on your device and in your iCloud: for mainland China Apple accounts, data is operated within China by GCBD and does not leave China; Apple Health sync data is stored on your device and in Apple Health, managed by Apple under its privacy policy. Only the following system map services involve overseas processing: (1) coordinates of overseas ride locations are handled by Apple via the system geocoding service (CLGeocoder); (2) basemaps/snapshots of overseas locations are provided by Apple Maps services — both are system-level services containing no identity information; see item 3 of the List of Third-Party Information Sharing for details.
7. System Permissions
The App uses the following system permissions, all necessary for functionality. The specific purpose, in-App feature location, how to disable, and the effect of disabling each permission are described below. You can review and revoke any authorization at any time in system "Settings → FarRide" or in the App's "Settings → Authorization Management"; revoking an authorization does not affect data already generated.
7.1 Location
- Purpose: recording ride tracks (GPS coordinates), real-time speed and distance, route navigation and turn prompts, altitude; background location is used only for the necessary scenario of continuously recording tracks with the screen locked.
- Feature pages: home map (showing location/search), starting a ride (ride-page track recording), route navigation (navigation page), route editing (track drawing).
- When used: collected only during a ride/navigation and stops when it ends; no location is collected outside rides. The App only requests "While Using" permission, never "Always"; continuous track recording with the screen locked is achieved via the system's background location mode and does not require "Always" authorization.
- How to disable: system path "Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → FarRide" and select "Never" (or back to "While Using the App"); also available in "Settings → FarRide → Location". The in-App "Settings → Authorization Management" page shows current authorization status with one-tap shortcuts to system settings.
- Effect of disabling: tracks and navigation cannot be recorded; distance/track data will be missing from ride records (you can still ride, just without location data).
7.2 Health (Apple Health / HealthKit)
Health permissions include reading and writing, described separately:
- Read — workouts and workout routes: read workouts and routes from Apple Health on the "Workout Records" page and merge them with local records; the "Workout Import" feature can import them as FarRide ride records and navigation routes.
- Read — heart rate: read heart-rate data from health workouts for heart-rate curve display on the health record detail page.
- Read — active energy (calories): read a record's calorie data when importing historical workouts or showing health record details, for record detail and statistics display.
- Read — running dynamics: when importing or viewing health workout records, read step length, vertical oscillation, ground contact time, and speed samples for running-dynamics charts on the record detail page (average cadence of health records is derived locally from speed and step length, with no additional upload). The App itself records cycling only and does not produce running data.
- Write — workout records: when saving a ride, write the ride record (type, start/end time, distance, duration) to Apple Health "Workouts" so you can view your workout history in the Health app.
- Write — workout routes: write ride tracks (GPX routes) to the Health app's workout route data.
- Write — cycling distance: write cycling distance to the Health app for distance totals.
- Write — heart-rate curves: write heart-rate data recorded during rides to the workout, for Health app heart-rate zone statistics.
- Write — active energy: write calories burned during rides to the Health app.
- Write — cycling power / cycling cadence: write power and cadence collected from power meters and cadence sensors to the Health app (when supported), for Health data totals.
- When used: reading occurs when you open the "Workout Records" page (health workouts merged with local records) or actively use the "Workout Import" feature; writing occurs only when you actively choose "Sync to Apple Health" (workout save page / record detail page), never automatically.
- How to disable: open the "Health" app → top-right profile → "Apps" → FarRide, and toggle off individual switches under "Allow Reading / Allow Writing" (reading and writing are independent); also manageable in system "Settings → Privacy & Security → Health → FarRide". The in-App "Settings → Authorization Management" shows current status with shortcuts.
- Effect of disabling: with reading off, the "Workout Records" page will not show health records and historical records cannot be imported; with writing off, ride records stay only in the App locally and do not sync to the Health app. Each item can be toggled independently.
7.3 Motion & Fitness
- Purpose: using the device barometer (CMAltimeter) to measure relative altitude changes for cycling ascent/descent statistics — more stable than GPS altitude. No step or cadence motion data is collected.
- Feature pages: ride page (real-time ascent/descent data), workout record detail page (ascent/descent statistics).
- When used: collected only while a ride recording is in progress; not enabled in any other scenario.
- How to disable: turn off FarRide in "Settings → Privacy & Security → Motion & Fitness"; the in-App "Settings → Authorization Management" shows current status with shortcuts.
- Effect of disabling: ascent/descent falls back to GPS estimation (slightly less accurate); other features are unaffected.
7.4 Bluetooth
- Purpose: connecting Bluetooth cycling peripherals such as heart-rate straps, cadence sensors, speed sensors, and power meters to read real-time data; and broadcasting heart rate to third-party bike computers via the standard Bluetooth Heart Rate Service.
- Feature pages: My Devices page (searching/pairing peripherals), ride page (peripheral real-time data display), heart-rate broadcast page (broadcast switch).
- When used: only when you enter the Devices page to search for peripherals, ride with a connected peripheral, or enable heart-rate broadcasting; the system Bluetooth permission is requested the first time one of these features is triggered.
- How to disable: turn off FarRide in "Settings → Privacy & Security → Bluetooth"; the in-App "Settings → Authorization Management" shows current status with shortcuts.
- Effect of disabling: Bluetooth peripherals cannot connect, no peripheral data display, and heart-rate broadcasting is unavailable; other features are unaffected.
7.5 Live Activities (Dynamic Island)
- Purpose: showing real-time ride data (duration, distance, speed, etc.) on the Lock Screen and Dynamic Island so you can check progress without opening the App while riding.
- Feature pages: shown automatically on the Lock Screen and Dynamic Island during a ride; disappears automatically when the ride ends.
- When used: displayed only during a ride; no additional personal information is collected, and the data source is the same as the ride page.
- How to disable: turn it off in system "Settings → FarRide → Live Activities"; or touch and hold the Live Activity card on the Lock Screen/Dynamic Island and choose to close it.
- Effect of disabling: no ride progress on the Lock Screen or Dynamic Island; ride recording is unaffected.
7.6 Background Audio (Voice Announcements)
- Purpose: keeping voice announcements during rides/navigation (turn prompts, off-route alerts, etc.) audible while the screen is locked or the App is in the background. This background-audio mode is used only for playing voice prompts; it does not capture microphone audio and collects no personal information.
- Feature pages: voice announcements on the ride page/navigation page (can be turned off via Settings → announcement switches).
- When used: only during a ride/navigation with voice announcements enabled.
- How to disable: this capability works with the announcement feature and has no separate system switch — turn off announcements in the in-App "Settings → Voice Announcements" or the announcement settings on the ride/navigation page; the Lock Screen and background will no longer play voice.
- Effect of disabling: no voice prompts when locked or in the background; other features are unaffected.
You can review and revoke authorizations at any time in system "Settings → FarRide" or the in-App "Settings → Authorization Management". Revoking an authorization does not affect data already generated.
In addition, the App enables the remote-notification background mode, which is used solely to receive system notifications for iCloud data sync so that data stays consistent across your devices in time; it is not used for any message push and collects no personal information.
8. Data Security
- All data is protected by on-device storage and system security mechanisms (Keychain, data protection).
- No third-party analytics SDKs are used, and no device identifiers are collected for tracking. The App is a native app; it does not use cookies or similar tracking technologies and embeds no in-app browser components.
- Should an personal-information security incident occur, we will promptly inform you of the incident category, possible impact, and remedial measures taken, as required by laws and regulations.
- The App contains no personalized recommendations, targeted advertising, or user-profiling features; workout alerts are triggered by local rules you configure in the App, not based on any profiling analysis.
- Network interactions (such as loading compliance documents) use HTTPS encrypted transmission.
- The App has declared export compliance (ITSAppUsesNonExemptEncryption) and does not use non-exempt encryption technologies.
9. Your Rights
Under the Personal Information Protection Law, you enjoy the following rights:
- Access and copy: you can view all ride records in the App and export them in GPX/TCX/FIT formats.
- Correction and supplementation: you can edit route names, waypoints, and similar information. Sensor-collected data such as heart rate and distance cannot be modified.
- Deletion: you can delete any ride record or route data at any time; deleted data cannot be recovered. Uninstalling the App deletes local data; iCloud data stored by the App can be managed and deleted in system settings.
- Withdrawal of consent: you can disable location, health, Bluetooth, Motion & Fitness, and other permissions at any time in system settings or the in-App "Authorization Management"; turning them off affects only the corresponding features. Withdrawal of consent does not affect processing already carried out based on your prior authorization.
- Account deletion: the App has no account system; uninstalling the App deletes local data, and iCloud data stored by the App can be managed and deleted in system settings.
- Timely response: we will respond to your inquiries, complaints, or requests regarding your personal information rights within fifteen (15) working days of receipt.
