1. Basic Information
This privacy policy applies to the "FarFoot" app and its companion Apple Watch app (together, "the App"), developed and operated by Sichuan Zhangyun Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter "we").
- Developer: Sichuan Zhangyun Technology Co., Ltd.
- Email: ggeyecom@163.com
- Personal Information Protection Complaint Hotline: 028-61340686
- ICP License: Shu ICP No. 15024121-26A
We take the protection of your personal information very seriously. This privacy policy explains how the App collects, uses, stores, shares and protects your personal information, as well as the rights you enjoy. Please read and fully understand this policy before using the App.
This App is an outdoor sports recording and navigation application. Features such as workout recording and route navigation rely on system permissions such as location. We follow the principle of minimal necessity and only collect information when necessary to provide you with core features. All workout data is stored locally on your device by default. If you sign in to iCloud, your workout records, routes and waypoints will be automatically synced across your devices via the Apple iCloud (CloudKit) private database; when iCloud is not signed in or sync is disabled, data is stored locally only. In accordance with the "Regulations on the Scope of Necessary Personal Information for Common Types of Mobile Internet Applications", fitness apps can provide basic functions without personal information.
2. Information We Collect
This App only collects the following information when you actively use its features. For detailed usage and page locations of each permission, see Section 7 "System Permissions":
- Location Information (sensitive personal information): GPS coordinates, altitude, speed. Used for recording workout tracks and route navigation (home map, workout page, navigation page, route editing). Collected only while you are in an active workout/navigation; collection stops when the workout ends. Background location is used only when necessary to keep recording the track while the screen is locked.
- Health Data (sensitive personal information): Heart rate data, read only from Apple Watch or the Health app, used for workout monitoring and heart rate curve display (workout page, record detail page). Interaction with Apple Health includes both reading and writing: reading is used to show your Apple Health workouts on the "Workouts" page (merged with local records), to import historical workout records on demand, and for heart rate curve and running dynamics display on the record detail page; writing (workout sessions, routes, distance, heart rate curves, active energy, power, stride length) happens only when you actively choose to "Sync to Apple Health" (workout save page, record detail page).
- Workout Data: Distance, duration, pace, speed, cumulative ascent/descent, calories, cadence and stride. Used for workout statistics and display (workout page, data page, record detail page).
- Route Data: Routes and waypoints you create (GPX tracks), used for route planning and navigation (route page, navigation page, route editing).
- Workout Settings Preferences: Age, resting heart rate and body weight, used to calculate heart rate zones and estimate workout calories. Stored locally on your device (Apple Watch: system Keychain; iPhone: local preference storage protected by the system), never uploaded or shared.
3. Purposes of Information Use
- Providing workout track recording and route navigation services
- Workout data analysis and statistics (distance, pace, heart rate curve, etc.)
- Workout alerts (heart rate too high/low, pace, hydration, etc.)
- Workout record export (GPX/TCX/FIT formats) and sync to Apple Health
- Online map browsing and route navigation
4. Storage of Information
- Storage location: Personal information collected and generated while you use the App within mainland China is stored on your device (in China); with iCloud sync enabled, data of Mainland China Apple accounts is operated and managed within China by GCBD, while data of Apple accounts in other regions is stored in Apple's overseas data centers (not personal information collected within China).
- All workout data is stored locally on your device by default (SwiftData/file system), protected by system security mechanisms. If you sign in to iCloud, your workout records, routes and waypoints will be automatically synced to your iCloud via the Apple iCloud (CloudKit) private database; synced data is managed by Apple in accordance with its privacy policy and does not pass through our servers.
- Workout settings and route data between iPhone and Apple Watch are synced via the system WatchConnectivity framework between your personal devices, without passing through any third-party server.
- Settings such as age, resting heart rate and body weight are stored locally on your device (Apple Watch: system Keychain; iPhone: local preference storage protected by the system), never uploaded.
- Data you authorize to sync to Apple Health is stored in your device and iCloud health data, and does not pass through our servers.
- We do not upload your workout data to any server we operate. The App only loads compliance document pages (privacy policy, user agreement, etc.) and static reference data (such as the wheel circumference reference table) from our server, and does not transmit user personal data.
- Data synced to iCloud is retained until you manually delete it or disable iCloud sync; uninstalling the App does not delete synced data in iCloud.
- You can delete workout records at any time; deleted data cannot be recovered. Uninstalling the App deletes all local data; data synced to iCloud is not deleted upon uninstall and will be automatically restored after reinstall. To permanently delete cloud data, go to Settings → Apple Account → iCloud → Manage Account Storage → FarFoot.
5. Sharing, Transfer and Disclosure of Information and Third-Party Services
We do not sell, trade or rent your personal information. Data interactions occur only in the following functional scenarios. For details, please refer to the "Third-Party Information Sharing List":
- Apple Health (HealthKit): After your authorization, reads/writes workout data and heart rate, stored only in your device and iCloud health data.
- Apple iCloud (CloudKit): Workout records, routes and waypoints are synced across your personal devices via the Apple CloudKit private database, with data stored in your iCloud. Data for Mainland China Apple accounts is operated and managed within China by GCBD (Guizhou on the Cloud); data for Apple accounts in other regions is stored by Apple in accordance with local policy. Requires iCloud sign-in; when signed out, data is stored locally only.
- As required by laws, regulations or mandatory government requirements.
Transfer and disclosure: Except in the following circumstances, we do not transfer or publicly disclose your personal information: ① with your separate consent; ② where personal information must be transferred due to a merger, division, dissolution or declared bankruptcy, we will require the new holder to remain bound by this policy, or otherwise to obtain your consent again; ③ disclosure required by laws and regulations or by mandatory requirements of judicial or administrative authorities.
Exceptions to obtaining consent: Pursuant to Article 13 of the Personal Information Protection Law, we may collect, use or share necessary personal information without your consent in the following circumstances: ① necessary for concluding or performing a contract to which you are a party; ② necessary for performing statutory duties or obligations; ③ necessary for responding to a public health emergency, or necessary to protect your life, health or property in an emergency; ④ news reporting or public-interest supervision carried out within a reasonable scope; ⑤ processing information that you have made public or that has already been lawfully disclosed, within a reasonable scope; ⑥ other circumstances provided by laws and regulations.
The App does not use any third-party analytics SDK, advertising SDK or push SDK. Workout records, routes and waypoints are synced only to your personal iCloud private database via Apple CloudKit and are not shared with any other third party. The map base layer is provided by Apple Maps (built into the system) and does not pass through any third-party tile service.
6. Cross-Border Transfer of Personal Information
This App does not transfer personal information collected within China overseas. Data synced to Apple Health is stored in your device and iCloud and is managed by Apple in accordance with its privacy policy. Workout records, routes and waypoints synced to iCloud via CloudKit: data for Mainland China Apple accounts is operated and managed within China by GCBD and does not constitute cross-border transfer of personal information; data for Apple accounts in other regions is stored in Apple's overseas data centers and is not personal information collected within China.
7. System Permissions
The App uses the following system permissions, all necessary for its features. The specific purpose, location in the App, how to disable it, and the impact of disabling each permission are described below. You can view and disable each authorization at any time in System Settings → FarFoot or in the App's Settings → Permission Management; disabling an authorization does not affect data you have previously generated.
7.1 Location Permission
- Purpose: Recording workout tracks (GPS coordinates), real-time speed and distance, route navigation and turn guidance, altitude; background location is used only when necessary to keep recording the track while the screen is locked.
- App pages: Home map (show location/search), start workout (track recording on workout page), route navigation (navigation page), route editing (track drawing).
- When used: Collected only during an active workout/navigation and stops when it ends; no location is collected outside of workouts. The App only requests "While Using" location permission, not "Always"; track recording with a locked screen relies on the system background location mode and does not require "Always" authorization.
- How to disable: Go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → FarFoot and choose "Never" (or switch back to "While Using the App"); you can also use Settings → FarFoot → Location. The in-app Settings → Permission Management page shows the current status and jumps to system settings.
- Impact of disabling: Track recording and navigation are unavailable; distance/track data is missing from workout records (you can still work out, just without location data).
7.2 Health Permission (Apple Health / HealthKit)
The health permission includes both reading and writing, described separately below:
- Read — Workout records and routes: On the "Workouts" page, reads your Apple Health workout sessions and routes, merged with local records for display; the "workout record import" feature can import them as FarFoot workout records and navigation routes.
- Read — Heart rate: Reads heart rate data from Apple Health workout sessions, used for heart rate curve display on the health record detail page.
- Read — Active energy (calories): Read when importing historical workout records and when displaying health record details, for calorie display in record details and statistics.
- Write — Workout sessions: When saving a workout, writes the workout record (type, start/end time, distance, duration) to Apple Health "Workouts" so you can view your workout history in the Health app.
- Write — Workout routes: Writes the workout track (GPX route) to the workout route data in the Health app.
- Write — Walking + Running Distance / Cycling Distance: Writes the corresponding distance data by workout type (running/hiking to walking + running distance, cycling to cycling distance) for distance summaries in the Health app.
- Write — Heart rate curves: Writes heart rate data recorded during workouts to the workout session for heart rate zone statistics in the Health app.
- Write — Active energy: Writes the calories burned during workouts to the Health app.
- Write — Power: Cycling writes cycling power; running/hiking/trail running write running power (when supported by the device), for power summaries in the Health app.
- Write — Running stride length: Writes stride length data to the Health app in running/trail running modes.
- Read — Running dynamics: When importing or viewing Health workout records, reads stride length, vertical oscillation, ground contact time and speed samples for the running dynamics charts on the record detail page (average cadence of Health records is derived locally from speed and stride length, with no extra uploads).
- When used: Reading happens when you open the "Workouts" page (Apple Health workouts merged with local records) or when you actively use the "workout record import" feature; writing only happens when you actively choose "Sync to Apple Health" (workout save page / record detail page); nothing is uploaded automatically.
- How to disable: Open the Health app → tap your profile (top right) → Apps → FarFoot, and toggle the individual "Allow reading / Allow writing" switches (read and write are independent); you can also manage them in Settings → Privacy & Security → Health → FarFoot. The in-app Settings → Permission Management page shows the current status and jumps to system settings.
- Impact of disabling: Disabling read hides health records on the "Workouts" page and prevents importing history; disabling write keeps workout records only in FarFoot locally and stops syncing to the Health app. Each item can be toggled independently.
7.3 Motion & Fitness Permission
- Purpose: Obtaining cadence and stride data (running/trail running modes) for workout statistics and cadence display (cadence data on the workout page).
- App pages: Enabled when starting a workout (running/trail running modes); cadence/stride display on the workout page.
- When used: Collected only during running/trail running workouts; not enabled in cycling/hiking modes.
- How to disable: Settings → Privacy & Security → Motion & Fitness → turn off the FarFoot switch; the in-app Settings → Permission Management page shows the current status and jumps to system settings.
- Impact of disabling: No cadence/stride data; other workout features are unaffected.
7.4 Live Activities (Live Activities / Dynamic Island)
- Purpose: Displaying workout data (duration, distance, pace, etc.) in real time on the Lock Screen and Dynamic Island, so you can check your progress during a workout without opening the App.
- App pages: Automatically displayed on the Lock Screen and Dynamic Island during an active workout; automatically dismissed when the workout ends.
- When used: Displayed only during an active workout; no additional personal information is collected; data source is the same as the workout page.
- How to disable: Turn off the in-app Settings → Live Activities switch (an active Live Activity ends immediately); or use Settings → FarFoot → Live Activities.
- Impact of disabling: Workout progress is not shown on the Lock Screen and Dynamic Island; workout recording is unaffected.
7.5 Background Audio (Voice Announcements)
- Purpose: Keeps voice announcements (turn prompts, off-course alerts, etc.) audible while the screen is locked or the App is in the background during workouts/navigation. This background audio mode only plays voice prompts; it does not capture microphone audio and collects no personal information.
- App pages: Voice announcements on the workout/navigation pages (can be turned off in Settings).
- When used: Only during an active workout/navigation with voice announcements enabled.
- How to disable: This capability works with voice announcements and has no separate system toggle — turn off announcements in the app's Settings → Voice Announcements (or the announcement settings on the workout/navigation page); background playback then stops.
- Impact of disabling: No voice prompts in the background with a locked screen; other features are unaffected.
You can view and disable each authorization at any time in System Settings → FarFoot or in the App's Settings → Permission Management. Disabling an authorization does not affect data you have previously generated.
8. Data Security
- All data is protected through local device storage and system security mechanisms (Keychain, data protection).
- No third-party analytics SDK is used, and no device identifiers are collected for tracking. This App is a native application that uses no cookies or similar tracking technologies and embeds no browser components.
- Should a personal information security incident ever occur, we will promptly inform you of its category, potential impact and the remedial measures taken, as required by laws and regulations.
- This App contains no personalized recommendations, targeted push notifications or user profiling; workout alerts and other notifications are triggered solely by local rules you configure in the App, without any profiling analysis.
- Network interactions (such as compliance document loading) use HTTPS encrypted transmission.
- The App has declared export compliance (ITSAppUsesNonExemptEncryption) and does not use non-exempt encryption technology.
9. Your Rights
In accordance with the Personal Information Protection Law, you enjoy the following rights:
- Access and Copy: You can view all workout records in the App and export them in GPX/TCX/FIT formats.
- Correction and Supplement: You can edit route names, waypoints and other information. Heart rate, distance and other data collected by sensors cannot be modified.
- Deletion: You can delete any workout record or route data at any time. Uninstalling the App deletes all local data; data synced to iCloud is not deleted upon uninstall. To permanently delete it, go to Settings → Apple Account → iCloud → Manage Account Storage → FarFoot.
- Withdrawal of Consent: You can disable location, health, motion & fitness and other permissions at any time in System Settings or in the App's "Permission Management"; disabling affects only the corresponding feature. Withdrawing consent does not affect information processing already carried out based on your prior consent.
- Deregistration: The App has no account system. Uninstalling the App completes deregistration and deletes all local data. If iCloud sync is enabled, cloud data is not deleted upon uninstall and must be manually deleted in Settings → Apple Account → iCloud → Manage Account Storage → FarFoot for complete deregistration.
- Timely Response: We will respond to your inquiries, complaints or personal information rights requests within fifteen working days of receiving them.
10. Protection of Minors

If you are a minor, please use the App under the guidance of your guardian. If we discover that personal information of a minor has been collected by mistake, we will delete it immediately.
The age you enter in the heart rate zone settings is used only to calculate heart rate zones locally on your device and for no other purpose; if that age indicates the user may be a minor under the age of 14, the information is processed only on the device under guardian supervision, never uploaded or shared. Minors under 14 should use the App only with their guardian's consent and guidance.
Guardians who discover that their child's information has been collected by mistake may request deletion through the contact methods in Section 12 of this policy, and we will process the request within fifteen working days.
11. Policy Updates
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. A material change refers to changes involving: an increase in the types of information collected, changes in purposes of use, new third-party sharing recipients, adjusted retention periods, changes in cross-border transfer, or changes in how user rights are implemented.
Material changes will be notified to you via an in-app dialog, and the update date at the top of this policy will be refreshed. This policy takes effect upon publication of updates. Your continued use of the App constitutes acceptance of the updated policy; if you do not agree with the updated content, you may stop using the App.
